Biography:
Romano Donà born in Murano 1956. He begins to work very young with his father at the F.lli Manfren Glassworks.
1975 he started with glassmaster Livio Seguso where he continued for twenty years. There Romano refined his
skills, not only in meeting the particular demands of Seguso but also in collaborating with severial artists such as Henry Mavrodin, Federica Marangoni, Mimmo Rotella and Ugo Marano.
Donà specialised in glass sculptures and in 1987 he won the Premio Murano Award for glass masters.
In 2000 with Silvano Balardinelli, the art director of a group of Japanese artists he transphered the designs of many Asian artists into glass. In 2003 Romano began experimenting with the traditional Muranese techniques of "filigrana" and "incalmo". His applications of theses centuries-old processes looked entirely new. The results where brightly colored, heavy vessels that undulated with pattern.
So a new collection was born for Oggetti in the United States.
