About the Item

Hannelore Dreutler, Goldgraal Commedia dell'Arte Vase, Studio Ahus, Sweden 1987 HANNELORE DREUTLER & ARTHUR ZIRNSACK, vase, "JL PANTALONE" from the series "Commedia dell'Arte", goldengraal Studio Åhus 1987 Provenance: A private collection, Växjö. Dimensions: Height 24.5 cm, diameter 21 cm. Very good condition. Developed at Orrefors in 1916, Graal is a technique in which the design is carved, engraved, or etched on a parison of colored glass, which is then reheated and cased in a thick layer of transparent glass and inflated. The Graal glass technique was invented by the designer Simon Gate in collaboration with the craftsman Knut Bergqvist at Orrefors Glasbruk, Sweden, in 1916. Today it is used in other countries but it is a Swedish speciality. It is used to obtain a decorative motif engraved on the inside of the glass wall.
