About the Item

Murano glass vases have always presented designer with the possibility to freely experiment with color, shapes, patterns and textures. From air-thin, intricate vases like Venini's "Fazzoletto", to Barovier's "Rostrati" in clear glass, all possibilities of this charming and mesmerising material have been explored. The present vase, which reminds some of the most relevant works of the last century, penned by authors like Carlo Scarpa among others, is a massive and attractive vase in dark green/greyish glass. It is seemingly made by turning a single glass roll around a central core. The starting roll has included bubbles, that make it look like it was filled with water. It is not signed, has been attributed to famed designer and glassmaker Alfredo Barbini. It survived preserved in pristine conditions from the 1960s till today, and presents no relevant signs of wear other than the expectable hairlines and minor scratches throughout.
