Highly Important Pair of 19th-Century Vienna Porcelain Hand-Painted Vases

About the Item

A Highly Important and Quite Spectacular Pair of 19th-Century Vienna Porcelain Hand-Painted and Gilt Vases. Each of baluster-form with flared necks and an octagonal stepped bases. The bodies are decorated with hand-painted figural scenes occupying the central panels on each side. The primary panels depict detailed compositions inspired by Greco-Roman mythology. One vase portrays a seated female figure in flowing white robes, holding a child on her lap, attended by several figures in an opulent interior setting with drapery and classical architectural elements. A woman to the left raises her arms in a moment of supplication, possibly bringing an offering. This scene is likely inspired by the story of Venus and Aeneas, where the goddess Venus protects and guides her son Aeneas on his destined journey to found Rome. The second vase presents a scholarly or divine figure gesturing toward a group of onlookers in a grand architectural setting, suggesting an instructional or revelatory moment. This composition recalls The Education of Achilles, where the legendary hero receives guidance from a mentor such as Chiron or another influential figure from mythology. The interaction among the figures and the structured arrangement suggest a theme of wisdom and heroism. The vases are further adorned with raised 24K gilt decoration forming symmetrical cartouches, scrolling patterns, and geometric borders over a deep cobalt blue ground. The necks and lower sections feature applied gilded ornamentation with repeating motifs, including medallions, latticework, and foliate details. The bases incorporate Greek key patterns and additional painted figural reserves framed by gilt borders. The octagonal footed plinths are set with applied porcelain plaques, each depicting miniature painted scenes of classical figures, including cherubs and nymphs, engaged in musical and leisure activities. Each element is integrated within the overall structure, with the painted mythological scenes enclosed by elaborate decorative borders. The applied gilding exhibits consistent coverage, with variations in texture creating defined relief against the smooth porcelain surfaces. This is one of the finest examples of Vienna porcelain we have ever seen. with 360 degree portraits and the most incredible painting. These are truly exceptional in all ways. Vienna, Circa: 1870

A 19th Century Monumental Cobalt Blue Ground Royal Vienna Porcelain Covered Vase with Watteau Scenes. Marvel at the sheer magnificence of this very large, Monumental Royal Blue Ground Royal Vienna Porcelain Covered Vase, an exquisite masterpiece that will leave you in awe. The hand-painted Watteau Scenes on this vase depict a wonderful rural landscape that features a group of beautiful women in gorgeous gowns of burnt-orange, lavender, blue, white, pink, yellow, and apricot. The women are surrounded by a pastoral landscape and a lovely old tree painted realistically with twisted branches, where a cute plump cherub sits on one of the branches and looks down at the dynamic and festive looking women. Two of the women hold a lovely garland of pastel colored flowers, while the others swoon around or perch, leaning on a sweet-looking, doe-eyed white and grey cow that is lying on the ground seemingly enjoying the interaction as it twists its head around to lick its left leg. The foreground of the scene is adorned with detail that creates a sense of depth and perspective. The blue sky and puffy afternoon clouds surrounding the women add to the idyllic atmosphere of the painting. The vase's body is a beautiful deep shiny blue background with extensive delicate gilded decoration in a lace-like pattern surrounding the entire vase except for the painted scenes. The classic urn shape with a footed base and a lovely mounded lid adorned with a perfectly proportioned golden acorn finial. On the opposite side of the vase is another beautifully colored rural scene depicting a floating deer and two women in yellow...

Pair of 19th Century Medici Vases, Hand-Painted Porcelain
Located in Lantau, HK
A set of two crater vases from the second quarter of 19th century, century 1825-1830, made of porcelain of France, crafted in the factory of Mortelèque in Ixelles (near Brussels), Belgium and painted by the artist Frédéric Faber (1782-1844). The model of the crater vase is based on the famed Medici crater in the Uffizi in Florence. This type of vase was often reserved for lavish gifts among the aristocracy and royal courts in Europe. At the Salon of 1815, Faber’s work attracted king William I of the Netherlands (1772-1843) who eventually named him the court’s official porcelain painter. Another very similar pair of Medici vases...
