Huge Vistosi Murano Glass Vase by Alessandro Pianon

About the Item

Beautiful Vistosi cylinder hat shaped vase in clear glass with partial black glass at the bottom and a Vistosi trademark red glass edge. Designer Alessandro Pianon started working for Vistosi in 1956 and founded his own design office in 1962. Alessandro Pianon (1931–1999) was an Italian glass artist renowned for his exceptional contributions to the Murano glass tradition. Born in Venice, Pianon apprenticed with renowned glass maestros before joining Vistosi, a leading Murano glassworks. In the 1960s, he collaborated with architect Tobia Scarpa, creating iconic lighting designs. Pianon's works are characterized by innovative forms, vibrant colors, and a mastery of traditional techniques. His groundbreaking designs, such as the "Millefiori" series, earned him international acclaim, showcasing a fusion of artistic vision and technical skill. Pianon's legacy endures through his impact on modern glass art, exemplifying the marriage of tradition and contemporary creativity in the rich history of Murano glassmaking.
