Iridescent glass vase with applications by ercole Barovier for Ferro, Toso & Baro

About the Item

Vase by Hercules Barovier Production Ferro-Toso-Barovier Large cylindrical-shaped vase made of heavily iridescent Murano glass with horizontal and vertical applications. Rare vase of refined beauty designed by Ercole Barovier, in the 1930s. Ercole Barovier is one of the greatest glass designers, a great innovator who devised and patented new glassmaking techniques. In 1936, Ercole Barovier due to the great international crisis, liquidated the Barovier firm and merged it into S.A.I.A.R. (Società Anonima Industrie Artistiche Riunite), which was then absorbed by a new company, Ferro Toso and Barovier Vetrerie Artistiche Riunite S.A. Ferro, Toso and Barovier was established in 36 and was replaced by Barovier & Toso in 1939. During the 3 years of the Triunvirate, Barovier participated in the 1936 Venice Biennale and the Universal Exhibition in Paris, where his thick, iridescent glassware and his new hot-tinting technique were honored. The vase is in excellent conservative condition, showing slight marks but no cracks or chips.
