About the Item

We offer for sale a ceramic of great charm, a hybrid between a carafe and a vase, an object of common use that takes on an artistic value thanks to its sculptural shape and the splendid chromatic contrast given by the raw terracotta and the iridescent enamel based on manganese oxide. The vibes expressed by this article perfectly match its dating and the trend during the mid-20th century to create ceramics with shapes inspired by primitive and archaic civilizations. Handcrafted in Italy and signed by the artist at the base as "Fontana", this article comes from this imagery that celebrates a Mediterranean archaism, a primitivism also visible in the work of Picasso creating austere and fabulous shapes with rough and essential enamels. The article is in good vintage condition. It shows signs of use and time such as oxidation and a small scratch at the base visible in the photo. All the items visible in the photos are available in our selection on this website. Reach out with any questions.
