Japanese Contemporary Gold Platinum Pink Green Porcelain Vase by Master Artist

About the Item

Extraordinary Japanese contemporary highly collectible use up quality decorative porcelain centerpiece/vase in a breathtaking flared shape, a masterpiece by a third generation master artist who is the descendant of an extended family of prolific Japanese porcelain and ceramic artists. The three generations have been experimenting and perfecting techniques featuring gold foil for seven decades. Inspired by centuries-old kinrande (gold enameled porcelain) styles of Imari, the artists have developed a technique known as haku-yui (braided foils) that combines high purity gold, platinum and silver foils to create a shimmering palette of light and color. Silver foil is used exclusively as a substrate for expressing a wide spectrum of vivid colors. Foils of differing material and color are applied separately and at the rate of “one shade per day” in a process reminiscent of multi-color woodblock printing, implying that the addition of each new shade exponentially increases the time and complexity of production. This exquisite vase showcases mesmerizing striped geometric pattern on its surface expressed by etching high purity platinum and gold foils plus silver foils tinted in shades of pink, green, blue, gold and platinum meticulously positioned using lacquer as an adhesive and sealed to the vase in a low-temperature firing process. The combination of so many vivid colors and shades expressed on a beautifully designed surface creates an unpredictable and ever shifting display of light and color. In this exquisite piece the artist has used platinum and gold foils, and silver based foils for expressing various shades of blue, green, pink and red, gold and platinum, to create a mesmerizing pattern and colors extending to the inner surface of this breathtaking masterpiece. The stunning shape, breathtaking pattern and the sheer size make this a mesmerizing memorable piece and the focal point of the space it is placed in that attract the viewer to approach and enjoy the details. This striking decorative vase comes in a custom made wooden case signed by the artist. Dimensions: D 18 in H 7.5 in.

Exquisite contemporary Japanese dimpled decorative porcelain vase, hand painted in vivid blue, green and pink on an elegantly shaped porcelain body against a striking platinum background, a signed piece by highly acclaimed award-winning Japanese master porcelain artist in the Imari-Arita tradition. In 2016, the British Museum added a work by this artist to its collection of contemporary Japanese porcelain, a large lidded jar in the Imari-Arita polychrome enamel tradition. The artist is the recipient of numerous awards for his exceptional porcelain work and his unique signature gold and platinum work on porcelain. This elegant vase is the perfect canvas for a stunning floral pattern, set against a dimpled platinum background. The artist continues the platinum work to decorate the inside of this magnificent piece. The unfired porcelain shell is impressed with hundreds of dimples, to which gold and platinum are applied at the final stage of production. The dimples are designed to accentuate the luster of the precious metals by varying the thickness of application and allowing the cratering to convey a sense of depth. “Fired-on gold,” his signature style, highlights unique techniques for incorporating gold and platinum into the hand painting and multiple firing processes that yield a stunningly opulent look. The polychrome overglaze is fired at 800 degrees, followed by the application of gold and platinum that are fired at slightly lower temperature to maintain the luster of the precious metals. As a result, a single piece may undergo as many as five-ten firings. This artist's profile is available upon request. This stunning decorative porcelain vase showcases elegant Japanese toad...
