Japanese Contemporary Green Gold Platinum Porcelain Vase by Master Artist

About the Item

Exceptional museum quality signed Japanese contemporary porcelain vase, a masterpiece by a celebrated award-winning third-generation porcelain artist of the Kutani region of Japan featuring a cascade of grape vines rendered in pure gold and platinum decorate the vase, on an attractive soft pistachio green background. To express the signature grape vines, the artist grinds pure gold and platinum foils into powder form, which is then delicately applied to the vase to create raised patterns against the backdrop. The artist's is the recipient of numerous prestigious awards for his extraordinary work and his unique contributions to the centuries old "chibu" porcelain art. His profile is available upon request. The tiny cream dots that accentuate the stunning pistachio green backdrop are referred to as “chibu” in a beloved traditional Kutani porcelain art and represent the signature style of the artist and his forbearers. First developed in the early years of the 19th century, the “chibu” technique tasks the artist with painstakingly creating patterns with minute raised pigmented drops of equal size placed at precise intervals to generate a highly textured and mesmerizing field of raised dots. This exquisite Kutani porcelain vase comes in a beautiful custom-made paulownia wood case signed by the artist. Dimensions: H 8.5 in D 4 in

  • Japanese Contemporary Gold Platinum Pink Green Porcelain Vase by Master Artist
    Located in Takarazuka, JP
Extraordinary Japanese contemporary highly collectible use up quality decorative porcelain centerpiece/vase in a breathtaking flared shape, a masterpiece by a third generation master artist who is the descendant of an extended family of prolific Japanese porcelain and ceramic artists. The three generations have been experimenting and perfecting techniques featuring gold foil for seven decades. Inspired by centuries-old kinrande (gold enameled porcelain) styles of Imari, the artists have developed a technique known as haku-yui (braided foils) that combines high purity gold, platinum and silver foils to create a shimmering palette of light and color. Silver foil is used exclusively as a substrate for expressing a wide spectrum of vivid colors. Foils of differing material and color are applied separately and at the rate of “one shade per day” in a process reminiscent of multi-color woodblock printing, implying that the addition of each new shade exponentially increases the time and complexity of production. This exquisite vase showcases mesmerizing striped geometric pattern on its surface expressed by etching high purity platinum and gold foils plus silver foils tinted in shades of pink, green, blue, gold and platinum meticulously positioned using lacquer as an adhesive and sealed to the vase in a low-temperature firing process. The combination of so many vivid colors and shades expressed on a beautifully designed surface creates an unpredictable and ever shifting display of light and color. In this exquisite piece the artist has used platinum...
