About the Item
Exquisite Japanese contemporary large decorative porcelain vase, intricately hand-painted on a stunning egg shape body in blue, red and green with generous gold details, a signed masterpiece by highly acclaimed master porcelain artist in Imari-Arita region of Japan, and recipient of numerous awards for his exceptional porcelain work and unique gold and platinum work on porcelain. In 2016, the British Museum added a work by this artist to its collection of contemporary Japanese porcelain in the Imari-Arita polychrome enamel tradition. He apprenticed himself to Inoue Manji, Japan’s living national treasure in the field of white porcelain. His mastery of the pure white porcelain base has been absolutely essential to his success in bringing out the unclouded luster of gold and platinum in his art. His profile is available upon request.
This stunning vase showcases two scalloped panels with elegant borders depicting cherry blossoms and peonies in iron red, pink and gold on an elegantly shaped tree in cobalt blue. The panels are surrounded by a mesmerizin intricate geometric pattern in green decorated with flowers. The symphony of these exquisite designs masterfully put together on this beautifully shaped vase combined with the extensive and generous gold application, creates a truly captivating masterpiece.

"Fired-on gold,” his signature style highlights unique techniques for incorporating gold and platinum into the hand painting on porcelain that combine exquisite hand painted designs with generous use of gold and platinum and multiple firing processes, to produce a unique and stunningly opulent look. The polychrome overglaze is fired at 800 degrees, followed by the application of gold and platinum that are fired at slightly lower temperature to maintain the luster of the precious metals. As a result, a single piece may undergo as many as 5-10 firings.
