About the Item

Tromba vase designed by Ambrogio Pozzi and produced by Ceramiche Rometti Umbertide in 2006. Signed. The majolica vase, covered in matt black enamel, is part of the Jazz series, formed by three vases that, through sinuous and zigzaganti lines, interpret different musical instruments. The complete group also includes a medium-height vase inspired by clarino and a more elongated vase dedicated to the saxophone. The forms do not seem to be a quotation of the real appearance of the different instruments, but rather the synthesis of the different sound waves emitted by the wind instruments. Biography Ambrogio Pozzi was born in 1931 in Varese, Italy. During his University education he attended also at Istituto per la Ceramica in Faenza. After his graduation, he came back to improve glazes and stoneware techniques. Creative, he gained great experience working for important firms in different fields of production, diversifying mass-production design from image projects, always giving great importance both to aesthetics and functionality. In 1950 starts to design for his paternal factory, Ceramica Franco Pozzi in Gallarate, realizing ceramic, glass, plastic; wood projects. Winning many prizes he had the possibility to make work-travels to Denmark, Sweden, England, France and Germany. Member of international Juries in Faenza, Hannover, Valencia, Lisbon, Politecnic/Milan, etc. His projects are exposed in many important galleries and museums all over the world, like MOMA of New York. He is coordinator for the Design Section at the Gallery. of Moder Art in Gallarate. He attends to product design and graphic.
