About the Item

Lalique Ceylon Art deco vase Ceylon glass by Lalique in yellow (very rare) Model 905 (museum qualite) Origin France Circa 1924 Engraved on its base R.Lalique small wear on its base due to use Excellent condition and no restorations René Jules Lalique (Ay, Marne department, France, April 6, 1860 - Paris, May 1, 1945) was a French master glassmaker and jeweler, known for his creations of glass art, perfume bottles, vases, jewelry, candlesticks, clocks and car hood ornaments. He is buried in the Père-Lachaise Cemetery. He was highly recognized for his original creations of jewelry, perfume bottles, glasses, candlesticks, clocks, etc., within the modernist style (Art Nouveau and Art Deco). The factory he founded is still in operation (it is very popular for its perfumes) and the name Lalique has become associated with creativity and quality, with designs both lavish and discreet. A great admirer and collector of Lalique's work was Calouste Gulbenkian, an oil businessman of Armenian origin but based in Portugal, who created the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum in Lisbon, where a good sample of René Lalique's work is on display.
