About the Item

A large, dark blue glass vase by Bengt Edenfalk for Skruf Glassworks in Sweden, signed. From the 'Spun' series of vases. Bengt Edenfalk (1924-2016), was a Swedish glass designer, painter, graphic artist and sculptor, he was also involved in interior design projects. Bengt Edenfalk graduated in 1945 and then practiced with Edward Hald at Orrefors glasbruk, Sweden. He studied at the School of Art in Stockholm 1947-52. He was Skruf's Glassworks' first artistic designer. There he designed more than 70 different tableware and art glass pieces. Such as Corona, Skandia, Old Sweden, Puck and Bellman, among others, which today is viewed as vintage and retro classics. He worked at Kosta Boda glasbruk, Sweden 1978-89. Then as a freelancer at Strömbergshyttan and in Wilke Adolfsson's studio glassworks in Orrefors. Skruf's glassworks is located in Skruv in Lessebo, Sweden. The factory was established in 1897. The production has mainly consisted of tableware and ornamental glass in potassium and full crystal pulp. The glassworks were closed down in 1981.

    A very special ceramic vase, this is is really cool and very much gives a 70s feeling. It is made of stoneware and the texture is smooth, yet combined with an amazing harpsichord glaze, which gives a feeling to the vase. The colour is a pale chocolate brown, with some cream details.
