Large French Barbotine Style Ceramic Flower Vase signed Debra Betancourt

About the Item

A fine hand-crafted ceramic vase bowl with high relief in the manner of Pair of Antique Barbotine Vases from France by Jean Pointu. Work is titled "Poppies" and signed by the artist, Debra Betancourt, see detailed photographs. This multicolored barbotine style ceramic flower vase or planter bowl shows cut floral patterns with stunning pale pink, purple, coral colors on a white background. The stunning hand-crafted details and green flared base heightens the overall effect of a gorgeous decorative object. Signed by the ceramic artist, Debra Betancourt for Avatar Pottery. Important in Debra's rise to fame; she was the winner of Best in Show at the Lincoln Center Crafts Festival. Her pieces, all originals, are shown and sold in over 60 retail stores and galleries. This generously sized hand-painted ceramic flower vase bowl would enhance any traditional, contemporary, modern, mid-century, country, beach house or art and crafts themed setting. Measures: 13 1/2" Diameter x 10" High Similar to circa 1900s French Art Nouveau Barbotine Vases. Poppies have symbolized many things throughout history, including sleep, death, peace and rebirth. And in Greek mythology, poppies were the sacred symbols of different goddesses and characters, such as Demeter, Hypnos, Nix and Thanatos. Their symbolism is also why Dorothy and her friends fall asleep in a field of poppies in The Wizard of Oz—because of their close ties to sleep. This multicolored ceramic bowl vase shows a cut geometric pattern with stunning pale pink colors on a cloudy white background. The stunning details heightens the overall effect.
