About the Item

A striking early 20th-century terracotta storage jar, hand-thrown in Anatolia and finished with a soft olive-green glaze that gently fades into natural clay. Once used to store olive oil and grains, it carries the hallmarks of traditional Mediterranean pottery — utilitarian in purpose, yet effortlessly sculptural in form. The upper glaze was applied by hand and left to drip unevenly, creating a natural painterly transition from deep green to warm clay. Fine incised lines circle the neck and shoulder, adding quiet rhythm and craftsmanship. Its tall, tapering profile and earthy tones make it a versatile statement piece — equally at home in rustic farmhouse, Mediterranean, or English country interiors. Perfect styled with olive branches or left bare to showcase its patina, this vessel brings both history and warmth to a modern setting.
