Large Japanese Foliate & Bird Decorated Cloisonne Vase with Brass Base

About the Item

A fine large Japanese cloisonne square form vase with flared lip and round base, decorated with a large bird, wisteria, and other flowers on a deep blue background, with geometric earth tone accents around the rim and decorative brass base. The underside is marked “59J.W (?)”. This vase probably dates to the 19th century and is in very good overall condition, with some minor craquelure near the base, and other surface imperfections and wear commensurate with age and use. Dimensions: 26.5 in H x 8 in W x 8 in D, with a 5.5 in diameter lip and 8.5 in diameter base.
