As an artistic practice, sculpture has always been striving to Challenge and supersede its own traditions, and digital technologies have provided new tools and capabilities for pushing the boundaries of the medium, both in terms of concept and execution. Here presented is the Levitaz collection, created as a series which explores the negative space of objects and the transmutation of everyday objects into solid statues devoid of change. Here drapery over everyday objects to form the core of the design idea. This both simulates the presence of an object underneath, which is nowhere to be found, as well as gives the pieces an aura of lightness and of 'floating' in space. By freezing fabric shaped by dynamic forces at a given moment in time new patterns emerge which give rise to something that before might have been only transient. As this singular moment is frozen in time we are left free to gaze upon a universe in which for all intents and purposes time ceases to exist. My process is simple, I use the computer as a traditional artist might use the brush, or a sculptor clay. It is a tool. It is an infinite tool at that. Instead of paints I have simulations run in parallel worlds. Instead of clay I have algorithms determine how light bends through an invented material, or how a piece of cloth might flutter in an unknown atmosphere. At the end of the day, it is simply my tool of choice for creative expression, and I believe that’s what’s important. I focus on creating Limited Edition Collectible Design and Sculpture. I cast in a variety of metals and resins and work with top notch fabricators and artisans around the world to create the most enduring and magnificent pieces I am capable of.
