About the Item
Lundburg Studios (American, established in 1970 by James Lundberg). Jade Indian Basket Gourd Vase. An iridescent vase having enamel relief decoration. Lot is accompanied by card, noting design # & name, circa 1997.
Provenance is the Cordts Mansion in Kingston, NY, the 1874 home of the John H. & Elizabeth Cordts family for more than 100 years. Born in Germany, the family arrived in the united states in the late 1830s, settled in kingston in the 1850s, and was well established as a brick maker and local business leader by the time the homes construction was completed in 1874. Hunt Slonem, noted artist, purchased the property in 2001, both restoring and expanding upon the interior and collection.
Lundberg Studios design styles range from antique to contemporary; from tiffany-style to Art Deco. Lundberg Art Glass is made entirely at the studios in Davenport, California on a limited production basis. Melting all its own exotic colors, Lundberg studios has refined the art of making quality glass by using a blend of techniques both traditional and innovative.
