About the Item

The PAPILIO collection comprises two sizes of vases, Papilio Mini (12 x 6 x H25 cm), and Papilio Magno (14 x 8 x H33 cm). PAPILIO MINI is a handcrafted vase with borosilicate glass and stone characterized by intricate designs, premium materials, and a strong sense of cultural heritage in artisanal craftsmanship. The stone is made sustainably using fragments of rocks from Tuscany and Veneto, from which the final color derives. Ancient Roman techniques inspired this unique material, which contains no glue or cement. It is processed using solar heat without CO2 emissions, so the emissions due to borosilicate glass production are not increased. The external surface is treated with natural substances used since ancient times, which are absorbed by the material within 3-4 months, showing the final color of the product, slightly lighter than in the first days of treatment. Therefore, it is possible to notice a slight lightening of the stone if the piece is shipped immediately after its production, mainly in grey and orange versions. This pot includes three separate components to be assembled without permanent connections. Each piece is handcrafted and features an irregular surface with holes and jagged edges, with an organic and distinctive appearance. Representing butterfly life stages with stone for the body, wings, and antennas, and painted glass for the abdomen, the Papilio collection was born as a subject in motion and becoming, formed by the hands of those who compose the shape with a removable lid, completely hand-sculpted. Papilio Mini vase is a sculptural tabletop object that can be used as a vase, sculpture, or simply decorative accent to harmonize a minimalist luxury interior attentive to sustainable materials or create a contrast of contemporary design in classic environments, bringing to light ancient art techniques and natural materials of the Roman people. There are no permanent connections between different material elements. GLASS CLEANING AND CARE • Hand wash only • Clean the bottom of the vase by filling it with wine vinegar or citric acid and letting it sit for a whole day. Then, pour the vinegar/citric acid into a closed glass or plastic bottle and save it for subsequent use (do not throw the vinegar into the toilet or sink; it damages aquatic organisms). Rinse the vase with water and dry it with a soft cloth.
