Biography
His childhood spent in a very small hamlet, surrounded by nature, in the heart of the Darney forest, one of the most beautiful forests in France, probably had an impact on him and would become a source of inspiration for his creations focused on wildlife. , the flora and especially the landscapes of forests and lakes which punctuate the Ourche valley.

Six months later, he became head of manufacturing and in 1866, aged 27, he became director of the glassworks. He then built a new modern factory and a workers' housing estate which over the years became an industrial complex of nearly 20,000 square meters.
He became CEO of Legras et Cie, then of Verrerie et Cristallerie de Saint-Denis.
He participates in numerous national and international exhibitions where he is very often rewarded. He was also responsible for the glass and crystal section of the 1900 Universal Exhibition in Paris2.
In 1909, he handed over management of his company to his nephew Charles Legras. From 1914, production changed style and was inspired by Art Deco, with a return to simple lines and a certain sobriety. Legras production will be effective until 1928.
