Voluminous in shape, iridescent in colour and with meticulously-crafted patterns, hand-blown and hand-sculptured Moonarij vases stand out as mesmerizing objects of beauty.
Our Oona vases are defined by their signature striped pattern, formed using the traditional canne technique, interwoven with spherical swirls and flowing curves. In the Tetris series, we begin by composing a mosaic of irregularly placed color rods, which we fuse in the kiln and then roll-up onto the pipe. After being taken from the annealer, each piece is carefully signed and numbered, marking its individuality within the series.
Moonarij was born from a passion for vases. During her childhood in Egypt, Johanna loved the clay vases holding cool water she saw in the streets of Cairo, nurturing her deep appreciation of vases as expressions of art and craftsmanship as old as humanity itself.
Teaming up with glass artists who brought her sketched ideas to life, she created her first glass objects—an experience that led her to establish Moonarij in 2022, a brand dedicated to unique, handcrafted vases.
