About the Item

A delicate and rare example of early 20th-century Murano glass, this vase was crafted in 1934 by Arte Vetraria Muranese (AVEM), one of the most innovative glasshouses of the period. Formed in a pale pink pulegoso glass—so light it borders on clear—the surface shimmers with an iridato finish that evokes the soft, weathered beauty of ancient sea glass. The form is elegant and architectural, with a subtly flared neck and a pair of small, half-circle handles that lend the piece a refined Art Deco sensibility. Both ornamental and quietly monumental, it carries the signature lightness and texture that define AVEM's early work. Founded in 1932 by a group of master artisans including Antonio and Egidio Ferro, Galliano Ferro, and Emilio Nason, AVEM quickly earned a reputation for technical experimentation and modernist aesthetics. The pulegoso technique—defined by the infusion of air bubbles into thick, semi-opaque glass—was one of their specialties, giving pieces like this a uniquely tactile, luminous quality. A beautiful and sculptural object, ideal for collectors or designers looking to anchor a space with subtle color, historic craftsmanship, and timeless elegance. Vase will be double-boxed and shipped with exceptional care.
