About the Item
We kindly suggest that you read the entire description, as we aim to provide detailed technical and historical information to guarantee the authenticity of our objects. This original and iconic French glazed porcelain vase features a depiction of the African savannah with lush, flourishing plants and gazelles in soft, delicate poses. A line of gold paint between the round base and the body of the vase creates a clever and aesthetically pleasing interruption. The black tropical plants and animal silhouettes against the white porcelain enhance the lush character of this creation. The vase was designed between 2010 and 2011 by artist-designer Nicolas Blandin, whose logo appears on the bottom of the vase. It was produced by the French company Emaux de Longwy, where Blandin executed most of his works. Born in 1969, Blandin pursued classical studies and had an atypical career spanning communications, fashion, theater, and education advocacy. In 2007, he decided to dedicate himself to his passion for creating decorative objects and furniture.
As a self-taught designer heavily influenced by Art Deco and the 1940s, Blandin uses his creations to tell unique stories and ignite the imagination of those who view them. His collaboration with Émaux de Longwy, the iconic porcelain factory based in Lorraine, France, which has upheld tradition since 1798, has been instrumental in his career. The company, for which he makes vases and decorative objects, has exhibited his creations in Dubai, New York, and Moscow at the famous “Art de Vivre” fair. Numerous design studios and interior architects also use Blandin's services for original collaborations. Famous for its powerful influence on the ceramics industry, the Boch family founded the Faïencerie de Longwy in 1798 in a former convent. The production gained notoriety after a visit by Emperor Napoleon I, who ordered pottery for the imperial houses of the Legion of Honor. In 1835, the d'Huart family became the owners of the earthenware factory, which prospered throughout the 19th century. Around 1870, during the Orientalist era, the company envisioned ceramic equivalents to the metallic glazes found in China and Japan, giving rise to the famous Longwy glazes. Concurrently, the factory continued producing “everyday” earthenware with floral and bird motifs. After participating in the 1925 Decorative Arts Exhibition, the firm experienced a period of dormancy, but since then, the terracotta industry has worked on profoundly renewing forms and decorations. Relationships with contemporary artists and designers, including Nicolas Blandin, have breathed new life into this venerable firm. The vase is in excellent condition with a diameter of 19 cm and a height of 40 cm. For all our shipments, we use special packaging materials (custom-made wooden crates, Styrofoam, etc.) to ensure maximum protection and safety of the objects.

View AllSaint Clement Blanche Letalle French Art Deco Vase In Ceramic And Pure Gold
By Saint-Clément, Blanche Letalle
Located in Prato, Tuscany
We kindly invite you to read the entire description, as we strive to provide detailed technical and historical information to ensure the authenticity of our items.
This distinctive and captivating vase stands out for its understated Pompeian red color, admired for its exceptional elegance and plasticity. The body is adorned with linear, refined, stylized stars in relief, embellished with pure gold accents. The pottery used is glazed earthenware, and the glossy finish suggests the use of vitreous glazes to achieve a bright, uniform effect. The gilding on the stars was likely applied using the ceramic lustre technique, where gold is added at a low temperature after the initial firing, resulting in a shiny and durable finish. The vase was crafted in the Art Deco style between 1930 and 1935 at the Saint Clement pottery...
