Omnia is the result of a unique collaboration between Alcino Silversmith, RTM (Raise the Moral), and MOTHER. Rooted in the concept of omniscience, the vessel explores the intersection of tradition, technology, and artistry. Its existence symbolizes the interplay between timeless craftsmanship and cutting-edge design, evoking an all-seeing presence that transcends the boundaries of time and space.
The creation of Omnia reflects a dialogue between mediums and generations. Designed through a generative and digitally modeled process, the piece was conceived by RTM & Alcino Silversmiths in close collaboration with 3D artist Michi Brandstetter of MOTHER Games. The digital sculpting process allowed for unprecedented speed in experimentation and precision, crafting a form that exists first in the intangible digital realm. From there, the design was translated into the physical world through the hands of a master craftsperson from Alcino Silversmith, who meticulously hand-carved the vessel to create the mold. The final piece was cast in brass and plated in sterling silver, embodying the synthesis of digital innovation and ancestral handwork. This process presents a pattern of creation that traverses from cutting-edge generative prototyping to digital hand modeling and finally to age-old craft, unlocking new workflows of creation for generational hand artists who previously relied on physical prototypes.
The aquamarine gemstones inlaid into the vessel serve as visual and symbolic markers, referencing clarity and perception, while grounding the work in the material world. The handwork finishes, and nuanced textures invite reflection on the tactile connection between the maker and the object, bridging the past and the present in a tangible way. Inspired by the ethos of an ancient archetype embodied by the Le Zoo House of Mirrors, the work conveys an all-pervasive wisdom to perceive the hidden truths of reality while simultaneously embodying a whimsical presence. Omnia is a character of an art object bringing personality and play into the act of seeing below the surface, seeking the clues and symbols hidden in plain sight. Reminiscent of ancient deity sculptures that feature all-pervasive sight through 360-degree heads, Omnia offers a modern, playful take on the experience of seeing with the eyes of divinity.
Crafted with precision and artistry, Omnia is both a functional object and a sculptural statement. The intricate detailing and gemstone placement imbue it with a sense of mystery and reverence, making it a unique centerpiece that bridges the realms of fine art and design. Details include unique faces surrounding the 360-degree surface, smooth surfaces on the tips of the vessel’s footing, hand-detailed fur texturing with finishing to highlight the depth of the surface treatment and unique hand-selected gemstones.
