One of a Kind Ceramic and Woven Cotton Vessel in Black or Tan

$1,400

About

One of a kind vessel #706 by Karen Gayle Tinney One of a kind vessel with hand-formed stoneware base, glazed in satin black. Ceramic base is created by the artist using a hand-building technique (without the use of moulds or a wheel), resulting in a true one of a kind piece. Top half of the vessel is woven using a coiling technique in tan cotton with a cotton or poly core. This time intensive weaving technique and material combination are a signature of the artist's work. This piece is not water tight and is not intended to be used to hold water without the use of a liner. Measures: 19.25" H x 7" W.

About the Maker

Karen Gayle Tinney

Karen Gayle Tinney is a Long Beach, CA based artist and designer. Karen's collection of ceramic and fiber home decor is the product of her passion for mixed material design and interest in fiber art. Each piece is meticulously crafted by the artist in her Long Beach studio; some pieces taking months to fully complete. The ceramic components are hand built piece by piece, then assembled together with their fiber counterparts. Karen holds a degree in product design from Parsons School of Design. She worked professionally as a home decor designer for seven years in New York City and Philadelphia before launching her own collection. Work has been featured in publications such as ArchitecturalDigest.com, Vogue.com, Milk Magazine, AFAR, amongst others.
