One of a Kind Ceramic and Woven Cotton Vessel in Multi

$1,400

About

One of a kind Vessel #688 by Karen Gayle Tinney One of a Kind Vessel with hand-formed stoneware base, left un-glazed to reveal the natural clay color. Ceramic base is created by the artist using a hand-building technique (without the use of moulds or a wheel), resulting in a true one of a kind piece. Top half of the vessel is woven using a coiling technique in white, brown, charcoal, beige, and black cotton with a cotton/poly core. This time intensive weaving technique and material combination are a signature of the artist's work. This piece is not water tight and are not intended to be used to hold water without the use of a liner. Measures: 14" H x 7" W.

The ceramic components are hand built piece by piece, then assembled together with their fiber counterparts. Karen holds a degree in product design from Parsons School of Design. She worked professionally as a home decor designer for seven years in New York City and Philadelphia before launching her own collection. Work has been featured in publications such as ArchitecturalDigest.com, Vogue.com, Milk Magazine, AFAR, amongst others.
