PLEASE NOTE: This piece is currently located in our Amsterdam office, please enquire for delivery times. A very stylish and unusual glazed ceramic handled vase by renowned Italian artist Marcello Fantoni (1915-2011). The rounded bottle shaped vase has a tall funnel neck with a large rounded loop handle attached to one side. The cream coloured body is decorated with run glazes in blue and yellow over a lightly textured purple ground. The vase is signed Fantoni to the base. In 1936 he established the Fantoni Ceramic studio and produced many unique pieces which quickly found him fame and recognition. His success continued and today his work is represented around the world in all the leading art institutions including among them the Metropolitan Museum of Art of New York, Victoria and Albert Museum of London, Museum of Modern Art of Tokyo and Kyoto. His work is also widely celebrated and represented throughout Italy. While famed for his unique smaller art works...
