Pair of Blue Porcelain Vases from the Late 19th Century, with Gilt Bronze Mounts
About the Item
This pair of vases is very decorative and of good quality. The porcelain is deep blue enamelled, the frame is in gilded bronze of fine quality and a beautiful gilding very well matched with the blue of the baluster. These vases are also very paunchy.
The collar is adorned with two rows of pearls framing a curved geometric frieze with successive stylized oval motifs. The sockets are double windings adorned with vine branches and are finished with a very pretty floral motif. The foot is of the circular pedestal type, it is octagonal in shape at its base, surmounted by a round frieze of ribboned nets supporting the pedestal decorated with large stylized grooves, pearls and spirals. The junction is made by beautiful circular acanthus leaves. These vases are also very full-bodied and can alone decorate a chest of drawers, a console table or a center table.
They perfectly reflect the late 18th century French style under Louis XVI.
