Gilded bronze Chandelier, cut crystal and red glass. Russia Late 18th cent.

About the Item

Magnificent Russian six lights chandelier dating from the end of the 18th century. The decorative elements of this chandelier are reminiscent of those that were made in St. Petersburg at the very end of the 18th century The general shape, airy structure and decoration in red glass and cut crystal are pure beauty. These kind of chandeliers feature fine sprays of flexible gilt-bronze stems supporting mirza pendants, typical of the decorative repertoire of Russian lighting art around 1800. This chandelier is 100 cm high with sheaves of flexible rods in gilded bronze and 120 cm to the top of the ceiling cup. Its size is perfect to fit into a classic size interior. There are few chandeliers of this type with red colors, it's rare but so beautiful! This chandelier was purchased after the death of a Russian artist. (confidential).
