About the Item

A refined and decorative pair of porcelain vases in the Chantilly style, attributed to Samson, Paris, and dating to the late 19th century. These vases exemplify the elegance and charm of French porcelain revival pieces, faithfully inspired by the 18th-century Chantilly manufactory. Each vase features a distinctive polylobed (multi-lobed) silhouette with a flared, scalloped rim and tapering body. The surface is finely hand-painted with delicate floral arrangements and exotic birds in flight, rendered in a harmonious palette of soft blues, greens, and iron reds. The artistry reflects the chinoiserie influences that characterized Chantilly porcelain during the Rococo period. The vases are mounted in finely chased gilt bronze bases, adding structural support and an additional layer of opulence. A Greek key border motif encircles the base of the porcelain, blending neoclassical and Orientalist design elements with exceptional balance. The underside of one vase bears the red overglaze anchor mark associated with Samson’s reproductions of Chantilly porcelain, confirming the Parisian origin.
