A pair of Continental 19th century Louis XVI st. etched Crystal and Ormolu vases
About the Item
A stunning and finely detailed pair of Continental 19th century Louis XVI st. etched Crystal and Ormolu vases. Each vase is raised by a triangular mottled Ormolu base with squared ends, concave sides, and tulip designed edges while supported on three fine block feet. The central socle shaped reserve introduces the tapered and fluted quiver of arrows that serves as the support. The support is flanked on three sides by scrolling fluted support legs decorated with hanging acanthus leaves, rosettes, and acorn top finials. The three legs attach to the quiver at the top by reeded designed blocks with topie shaped side finials while being separated with circular pulls. The fletchings at the top of the quiver wrap around and support the Crystal vase atop. The Crystal vase contains interlocking etched patterns around the narrow base before displaying an array of beautiful scrolling foliate etchings above. Each vase is finished with an elegant scalloped rim.
