Pair of Granite Urns with Gilt Bronze Mounts, 19th Century French

About the Item

This pair of urns showcase a stunning blend between the strength of granite and luxurious beauty of gilt bronze detailing. These urns are uniquely carved with spiral fluting that emulates architectural details while providing a dynamic sense of movement and grace. Domed lids with similar fluting sit atop each urn and are decorated by a gilt bronze finial that features leaves sprouting a flamelike centerpiece decorated with spiraled rows of pyramids. The fluted grooves of the body and lid of the urn feature gilt bronze mountings of bellflowers creeping upwards. Each urn sits atop a square granite base with gilt bronze edging at the bottom and a laurel wreath at the top with delicate ribboning.
