Pair of Japanese Cloisonne Enamel Amphora Shaped Vases

About the Item

A pair of high quality Japanese, Meiji era, enamel over brass vases. Each vase has an amphora shaped body and a short wide neck. Each ware is enameled with polychrome medallions depicting birds and butterflies in blossoming flowers, and images of Phoenix birds in clouds on the sides, made in the Cloisonne technique. The neck is adorned with floral, foliage, and cloud ornaments made in the same technique. The base features polychrome floral and scrollwork motifs made in the same technique. Unmarked.
