Pair of Late 19th Century Vases in Marble and Gilt Bronze

About the Item

Pair of green marble “vert de mer” baluster-shaped vases. They are richly decorated with gilt bronze Louis XV-style Rocaille, foliage, flowers, and seeds that wind up around the paunch of the marble vases and extend out to form handles. Each vase is set on a raised foot whose base is encircled with a ring of gilt bronze ribbing and interspaced leaves. A square base accented with a polished gilt bronze band supports each vase, circa 1880. Dimensions: L 22cm, P 19cm, H 38cm.
