Pair of Louis XVI Style Verde Antico Marble and Gilt Bronze Lidded Cassolettes

About the Item

A pair of lidded urns in the Louis XVI style, the bronzes very much in the manner of the famous French sculptor Gouthiere. The tri-form base richly decorated with gilt bronze trim supports three 'legs' each terminating in a goat's head, which in turn hold the round green or verde antico marble body of the urn also decorated with a circular gilt bronze frieze of playing putti.
