Pair Signed Sato Japanese Ginbari Red Cloisonne Vases Roses Crane
About the Item
A pair beautiful red Sato ginbari cloisonne vase. On each body two branches of white roses in full bloom and bud form with verdant foliage, worked in meticulous detail, set against stunning metallic red background depicting bamboo, pine, crane and bird. Ginbari is a technique where the maker wraps the textured body in shimmering foils before applying artworks and enamels. The result is a beautiful iridescent background with subtle artworks which become vivid under certain light angles. Addition incision work is done on the background known as “nanako” or fish roe, featuring a bird and a crane in flight amongst bamboo stalks. The images of pine trees and crane symbolize long life while bird and bamboo symbolize advancement. Signed at the base rim with Sato mark and signature. In pristine vintage condition without chips, cracks, hairlines, losses or restoration.
