Per Lütken (born November 10, 1916 in Copenhagen – died February 10, 1998) was a renowned Danish glass artist and designer who served as the artistic director at Holmegaard Glassworks from 1942 until his death. Initially trained as a painter and later educated at the School of Danish Arts and Crafts, he began working with glass despite having no prior experience. Throughout his career, Lütken designed over 3,000 glass objects, including iconic series such as Gyldenholm (1949), Copenhagen (1953), Clausholm (1958), and Atlantic (1962). He introduced innovative techniques like the “self-inflated” method and stick-blowing, and often created free-blown pieces without molds, giving his work an organic and expressive character. Lütken’s designs achieved international acclaim and are featured in museums around the world, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York. He received several honors during his lifetime, including the Danish National Bank's Jubilee Fund award in 1994, and is regarded as one of Denmark’s most important glass designers of the 20th century.
