A beautiful hand thrown vase/vessel by renowned ceramic artist Stephen Polchert (1920-2008). Polchert attended Cranbrook Academy in the 1950s and was an assistant and friend of Maija Grotell.

This ceramic vessel works both as a decorative piece on its own or can be used as a vase. I made this piece mixing a combination of porcelain paper clay with a black sable clay. I fired this piece to a cone 10 high fire and used minimal glazing to really showcase the beautiful black clay. I am doing an entire series with this clay body and these pieces look great paired together. There are multiple shapes available so you can create a pairing in twos and threes.
