Raku Vase mid-century modern white and black ceramic

About the Item

Very large Raku vase, circular free form, circa 70. The "Raku" technique is recognizable thanks to the black cracked lines and patterns on the surface of the white glaze. This unique handmade piece also has a "pique-fleur" part on one side of the vase, where single flower stems can be placed. Each side of the vase has different black patterns, so it can be arranged on one side or the other to vary the visual aspect, depending on the bouquet that will be placed inside. Its crescent shape and the typical cracked aspect of the raku technique, could evoke the moon on this particular piece. A rare object in terms of its shape and size. This unique piece is handmade, of French origin, most probably from 1970's era, unattributed.
