About the Item
Biographical notes: SALVATORE MELI, was born in Comiso, June 1, 1929, lives and works in Rome, the Via Appia Antica in the Studio. It 'was a lecturer in the School of Public Ceramic Art of Civita Castellana (Rm) and the latest headlines Special course "Miscellaneous Techniques of Sculpture" at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Rome. He participated in 1953 at international exhibitions of ceramics in Spoleto, Rome, Stockholm, and until 1955, at the Milan Triennale, the exhibition overseas in Naples, the National Show Albissola Marina di Vicenza, in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Australia and Monaco. He has held personally in Rome, Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, London, Dublin, Prague, Tokyo, Copenhagen, Geneva, Dubrovnik, Messina, Fiuggi. While continuing to participate in group exhibitions and organize personal exhibitions aimed primarily his creative activity in creating works of art for public buildings and private. "... Salvatore Meli, who started as an immigrant from the island with haunted eyes and mind in confusion, now returning with clear ideas and the reputation of being one of the greatest sculptors, ceramic artists of our time ... he has chosen for his work on very hard materials such as stretching a skin color, or matte and glossy hours, grazing in certain areas need to bare forms in sculpture. a marvelous job ...
