About the Item

A rare, large stoneware vase with a bold, modernist - almost brutalist - form; a true standout of Scandinavian modern design. Designed by Christine Konschak for Knabstrup Keramik’s Atelier line, Denmark, 1960s. The tall rectangular shape with soft shoulders and a narrow neck is finished in a rich, glossy glaze in deep chocolate brown. The surface reveals subtle tonal variation - an interplay of dark coffee and warm bronze undertones characteristic of Knabstrup’s mid-century studio production. Stamped Knabstrup Atelier on the base. Christine Konschak’s work for Knabstrup captures a distinctly Scandinavian sensibility: tactile, expressive, and grounded in the natural qualities of the material. The Atelier series marked the studio’s more experimental phase during the post-war decades, combining modernist form with handcrafted individuality. A striking standalone piece that also pairs beautifully with other Scandinavian ceramics for a cohesive mid-century mood. Brings timeless Nordic character and quiet depth to any interior. • Height 25 cm (9.84 in), Width 18.5 cm (7.28 in), Depth 8 cm (3.15 in) • Glazed stoneware • Designer: Christine Konschak • Manufacturer: Knabstrup Keramik • Period: 1960s • Origin: Denmark • Excellent vintage condition with minor wear consistent with age
