Rene Lalique art deco vase Circa 1915 Origin France Art deco style Excellent condition with no chips or restorations Forested glass technique Signed on the base R Lalique René Jules Lalique (Ay, Marne department, France, April 6, 1860 - Paris, May 1, 1945) was a French master glassmaker and jeweler, known for his creations of art glass, perfume bottles, vases, jewelry, candlesticks, clocks and car hood ornaments;1​2​3​4​ he is buried in the Père-Lachaise Cemetery. He was widely recognized for his original creations of jewelry, perfume bottles, glasses, candlesticks, clocks, etc., within the modernist style (Art Nouveau and Art Deco). The factory he founded is still in operation (it is very popular for its perfumes) and the name Lalique has become associated with creativity and quality, with designs both lavish and discreet. A great admirer and collector of Lalique's work was Calouste Gulbenkian, an oil businessman of Armenian origin but based in Portugal, who created the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum in Lisbon, where a good sample of René Lalique's work is on display.
