"Ricordo" Vase by Enfield Pottery and Tile

About the Item

For your consideration is this rare circa 1910 ceramic vase by Enfield Pottery & Tile, attributed to Enfield artist & founder, J.H. Dulles Allen. The light teal glossy glaze shows subtly varied tone and movement across its surface. The interior glaze is a contrasting glossy white. The upper portion has the word, "RICORDO" (translation: "I remember") cutout through the side, with decorative flowers and leaves on either side. Above this is a distinctive animal head protruding from the top rim. Opposite this is a hand formed handle. When used as a candleholder (pictured), light passes through, illuminating the word, ricordo. The vase is in beautiful condition with minimal wear for age and use.
