About the Item

A square green glazed vase designed by Nils Thorsson (1898-1975) for Royal Copenhagen. This is a very decorative vase created in Copenhagen Denmark by the Royal Copenhagen porcelain company, back in 1960. Designed with abstract patterns by Nils Thorsson and crafted in green glazed porcelain. Nils Thorsson was a Danish ceramist and painter, who is well-known for his abstract dishes and vase in faience that can be found in many Danish homes. Nils Thorsson He was a Danish ceramicist, silversmith, and painter. He apprenticed at the age of 13 at the manufacturer Aluminia where he eventually became the artistic director of the earthenware pieces from 1933-1969 and of the stoneware department at Royal Porcelain Factory 1949-1969. Nils Thorsson trained at the Technical High School in Copenhagen before joining Royal Copenhagen as an apprentice. He became a major designer for the Royal Copenhagen Porcelain Factory from 1912 to 1975 working in the uniquely Danish mode of simplicity and functionalism. With great versatility he was also their most prolific designer of painted patterns for their earthenware products. Country: Copenhagen, Denmark. Period: Mid-Century, Modern, 1960. Condition: The overall condition of this Royal Copenhagen vase by Nils Thorson is excellent. Besides the little normal wear, there is no damage and all parts are secured in the settings.
