About the Item
A stunning Art Deco Royal Lancastrian Pilkington twin handled art pottery vase of amphora shape decorated in vermilion orange glazes and dating from around 1920. The well-made earthenware vase stands on a narrow round unglazed foot with recessed base. The vase has a ribbed lower squat bowl shaped body of wide round form with the upper section of tapered form with a funnel neck and trumpet opening. Looped and curled handles are applied to either side of the neck. The vase is decorated in vermilion orange glazes with red burnt elements around the shoulder and dark streaked glazes applied around the lower body. The vase has impressed Royal Lancastrian makers marks to the base and is numbered 2821.
Provenance: Acquired from the UK Art Market.
In excellent condition without loss or damage and with normal wear associated with age and use.
