(5.51" & 5.51") Scandinavian rebel- Erik Höglund a true artist and innovator when it comes to mid-century modern art and design glass. He was a renaissance artist, not only focusing on art and design glass for various interior design settings. His contributions to, among other things, engravings, colors and down-to-earth, asymmetrical design made him successful in the whole world. During his time in Boda, he also worked with various forms of art and design working with pine, ironwork and furniture. He later also collaborated with other glassworks, for example Pukeberg, Lindshammar, Bodafors and Studioglas Strömbergshyttan to produce some of the most interesting art projects. His career as a designer He was recruited by Erik Rosén, and he started to work as a designer attached to Boda glassworks from 1953 to 1973 and came during this time to transform Swedish art glass manufacturing by introducing new ideas about how glass products should look with contemporary design in focus. In 1968, he and the glass artist Monica Backström founded the design company Backström & Höglund Design AB, with the design of furniture, household utensils and utility items for public environments. The revolutionary of art and design glass at Boda. When Erik Höglund came to Boda glasbruk in 1953, no one could have guessed that the young, bold 21-year-old who had just graduated from art school would change Boda's traditional glass production. It would be the beginning of a new era in Swedish glass history, which later also laid the foundation for the first studio glass art production in the USA. Erik Höglund has become known as one of our leading glass designers, but he has also fascinated the outside world with his extensive work in painting, sculpture and forging He has made over 150 public decorations in Sweden and abroad and is represented in interior design museums all over the world.
