Sculpture Giant Amphora Vase Majolica Hand Painted Four Seasons Art Nouveau
About the Item
Majestic amphora in glazed majolica, handmade and hand painted in central Italy. On the amphora are represented, in great detail, the four seasons personified by graceful women surrounded by floral elements, all the decoration is in Art Nouveau style and is a reinterpretation of the painting "The Times of the Day" (1899) by the painter Alphonse Mucha. The vase consists of three assembled parts: base, body and neck. The vase has a diameter of 68 cm (26,77 in.) and a height of 187 cm (73,62 in.). A truly exclusive piece of rare beauty. One of a kind piece.
The rarity of majolica artworks of this size lies in the technical difficulty of managing the entire creation process given the large size, both for the making of the terracotta artifact and the subsequent decorating phase. During the first firing of the clay biscuit the risk of breakage is very high and also during the second firing of the color majolica hides many pitfalls, this explains the rarity of artworks of this size, the difficulty of the decorations and consequently their value.

deBlona
The creation of deBlona brand took place in 2020, triggered by a chance meeting between the entrepreneur Moreno Sagni and the designer Riccardo Mei: their common passion for art and Italian artistic craftsmanship led them to combine energy and skills to take on this challenge.
In a world that runs at overwhelming digital speed, they made a choice against the tide: stopping time, restoring value and prestige to an ancient craft, to an art. Because there are things that cannot be forgotten, even if today they sound so foreign to the new normal, far from the trends that end in a click. So, deBlona changes speed, following the rhythm of another time, that of the masters, and creating in places of quiet and silence. Our brand bets on that tradition that runs through history and continues to lead the chain of gestures of creation, inspired by today’s imagination and flair. Our atelier is the place where research and creation begin: it’s the house of the skilled artists on whom we rely to offer you the most exclusive and precious artifacts. Here, deBlona majolica comes to life, from each artisans’ deep knowledge of materials and techniques, to their experience and craftmanship. Each signature has its own distinctive feature: deBlona’s represented by the uniqueness of the decorations and the interpretation of the color. Majolica accompanies the history of mankind, telling its existence for centuries: here, in our Atelier, we want to keep on narrating our time.

- Large Amphora Vase Majolica Figurative Subject Crocodile Hunt Rubens PolicromeLocated in Recanati, ITMajestic majolica Amphora vase, with a height of 183 cm (72 in) and a diameter of 52 cm (20,5 in): a unique piece, entirely handmade and hand-painted in Gubbio, Central Italy, in 1995. Its surface is decorated with a splendid and detailed reproduction of the famous "The Hippopotamus and Crocodile Hunt", painted by Peter Paul Ruben's (1615). The body of the vase shows remarkable technical capabilities, given its size and complexity. The amphora is divided into three parts: the base, the central body and the neck. Description of the reproduction painted : Peter Paul Rubens created the canvas oil painting entitled The Hippopotamus and Crocodile Hunt between 1615–16. The hunt takes place on the banks of the Nile, as indicated by a palm tree in the background. As hippopotami and crocodiles were considered dangerous nuisances, their destruction was a duty performed by noblemen. The hunting party comprises three men in orientalizing costume—mounted on Arabian horses, who hunt with lance and sword—and two valets clad in roughly-hewn jerkins—one of whom has been killed by one of the beasts. The enraged hippopotamus tramples the crocodile, as both are attacked by the hunters and hounds...Category
