About the Item

Unique tall bottle from Seguso, using a technique called Corroso, where the glass is textured with fluoridric acid and sawdust. A technique used by Carlo Scarpa and Seguso. The bottled is a flat squared shape, made with green cased over amethyst. A layering of colors called incamiciato. The color combination is instead called Mezzatinta where the combination of two layered colors is made to attain an unique glass coloration, otherwise not possible with the classic pigments of glass. Unique shape, color and texture. A rare piece. Carries original label, the green and the techniques are typical of Seguso Vetri d'Arte. This texture brings this exceptional piece to fit perfectly in the brutalism era and style.

Murano Glass Mezza Filgrana, Green Amethyst Clear with Gold Leaf, Cenedese Attr
By Cenedese, Carlo Scarpa
Located in Tavarnelle val di Pesa, Florence
Great color combination. The filigree/filigrana glass is a cane with a color inside. Usually clear on the outside with a core in colored or opaque glass. Most used are white or black filigrana. This is a self-made filigrana as there is a green coating over an Amethyst core, making the Amethyst almost a dark bronze color. The other cane is clear with amethyst. The twisting (mena in muranese, or ritorto) makes a lay with the back of the vase almost as it is a reticello (once called filigrana, so that explains the term mezza filigrana). The special color combination was then rolled over pure gold leaf, highlighted with the iridescence smoke and then covered with another layer of high temperature glass to make the gold vivid. The vase is quite large and carries a squared mouth, in a way of Carlo Scarpa mezza filigrana vases...

Unique Murano Glass Vase Stellato in the style Pollio Perelda for Fratelli Toso
By Fratelli Toso
Located in Tavarnelle val di Pesa, Florence
Splendid murano mosaic vase with a perfect color combination and complex mosaic technique. The stellato finish is made by rolling canes of various color over a small blob of incandescent glass. The design is attained by using the glass scissors at the end and making flat discs with a star design. All these are then heated on a flat surface, in the old time was a stone so this technique still carries that name, lavorazione a piera. It's heated so that it becomes an unique mosaic rectangular piece. It's then rolled with a glass disc that has the exact perimeter of the rectangular side. This makes the name that this technique is internationally known, Roll-up technique. The difficulty is to close into a cylinder the two other sides of the rectangle. After that the cylinder is closed on the opposite end, glowed to ge to the size, changing the working point with the punty technique (a puntello) and handopening to get the final shape. An incredible sequence of glassmaking technique to get a special design. The result is an intricate design of stars in an infinitive patchwork of color matching. This is commonly known as Stellato vase, which was enhanced and studied by Pollio Perelda...
