Seguso Scavo Vase in Amber Murano Glass Venice Italy 1970s

About the Item

Seguso Scavo Vase in Amber Murano Glass Venice Italy 1970s Entirely handcrafted in the 1970s, this outstanding vase is an artwork by the Venetian glassmaker Seguso Vetri d’Arte, whose activity dates back in the year 1397 in Murano, the Venetian island famous for its unrivaled blown glass tradition. The authenticity of this special object is documented by the engraved signature on its bottom. This piece of art is a so called “scavo vase”, which owes its name to its special workmanship and design, which emulate ancient archaeological finds. The special color of the vase is created by sprinkling it with glass powder, which creates a matte effect. That is also the reason why the vase is rough to the touch, while the inside, by contrast, is smooth and giving an orange shade. Both color and shape of the vase, with two handles and a base supporting its central body, evoke an old times glamour. The vase, as documented in the attached pictures, is in excellent conditions and ready to add a refined touch to any space of your house.
