About the Item

During her career, Nanny Still designed many decorative items and glassware, including vases, glasses, bowls and lamps. She is best known for her blown glass creations, which were characterized by their organic form. In 1959, Nanny Still won the prestigious Lunning Prize, which was awarded to promising young designers. The award brought international attention to his work and helped solidify his reputation as a renowned designer. During the 1960s, Nanny Still worked for many design and production companies, including the Finnish companies Arabia and Kumela. She also collaborated with foreign companies, such as the Italian company Venini, for whom she designed several pieces of blown glass. Nanny Still won numerous awards during her career, including the Pro Finlandia Prize in 1978 and the Prince Eugen Prize in 1981. Her designs have been exhibited in many museums and galleries around the world and are considered important examples of modern scandinavian design.
